Phoniatrics is the medical speciality dealing with communication disorders with focus on functions and disorders of voice, speech, language, hearing and swallowing. As a subspeciality of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Phoniatricians approach patients of all ages as part of a multidisciplinary diagnostic and therapeutic network of medical and non-medical disciples, such as neurology, neuropediatrics, psychiatry, pediatrics, radiology, genetics, endocrinology, dentistry, gerontology, logopaedics, linguistics, phonetics, psychology, pedagogy, acoustics, informatics and communication sciences. This broad foundation is also mirrored by the variety of therapeutic approaches including specialized (phono)surgical and non-surgical treatments, usually in close cooperation with speech and language therapists.
The Committee of Phoniatrics is dedicated to consolidate the collaboration between experts in medical and non-medical professions, to facilitate the bilateral transfer of knowledge in order to spread and improve multidisciplinary care of patients across international borders. The members of the committee are open to collect contemporary topics of multiprofessional interest and to bring together a network of professionals to provide international insights in the work of phoniatricians and to identify and propel field-tested practices and advances in collaborative care.

This collection provides content in English and is far from completion in the fast-growing global network. As global distribution of knowledge is one of IALP’s goal and a lot of non-English resources are existing, the collection will be updated.

Students must provide official evidence of enrolment at the time of joining the Association and/or registering for a congress/composium.
