32nd World Congress

The 32nd World Congress of the IALP was held at Aotea Centre, Auckland, New Zealand from 20th to 24th August, 2023.

IALP and the New Zealand Organizing committee were delighted to welcome 1,024 delegates from 54 countries around the world (10 % of them being students) to Auckland, New Zealand for the 32nd World Congress of IALP and the start of the celebration of IALP’s 100th anniversary period/Centennial.

Congress delegates were warmly welcomed to Aotearoa, New Zealand by the local iwi (indigenous tribe) of the land, Ngāti Whātua Ōrakei and the honorable Marama Davidson (Member of Parliament) in the Opening Ceremony. The invited keynote speakers, Prof Gail Gillon (NZ), Prof Georgia Malandraki (US) and Prof De Wet Swanepoel (ZA) as well as the WHO representative Antonio Duttine presented very engaging and thought-provoking presentations. The scientific program was complemented with an equally exciting social program with various half-day excursions and a memorable Gala Dinner.

Host an IALP Congress

The Triennial World Congress of the International Association of Communication Sciences and Disorders (IALP) is one of the most important activities of the Association. It is a physical event of IALP for continued education in addition to professional networking provided through social and cultural activities. 

Affiliated Society Membership

There are 3 types of membership of Affiliate Society, depending on the profile of the organization. Category A Society Membership: National organizations in communication sciences and disorders having individual members among their membership. Examples of this category are The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA ), Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)and The Egyptian Society for Phoniatrics and Logopedics. (ESPL) Category B Society Membership: Multinational, regional, or local organizations in communication sciences and disorders having individual members among their membership. Category C Society Membership: Multinational, national, regional, or local organizations in communication sciences and disorders comprised of Societies as their membership. Student Membership

An individual enrolled for part- or full-time study for preregistration, undergraduate or postgraduate studies directly related to the field of human communication disorders and sciences at a formal education institution. Students must provide official evidence of enrolment at the time of joining the Association and/or registering for a congress/composium.
