More than 1000 students from 14 different countries responded to our survey in 2022 and were overwhelmingly supportive of the proposal for a new category of IALP membership for students. Since 2023, there now is a student membership category for students enrolled in Speech-Language Therapy/Pathology, Audiology and Phoniatrics.
On behalf of IALP, President Brian Shulman attended the Congress of the Union of European Phoniatricians (UEP) that was held in Antalya, Turkey. The Congress offered presentations and a great platform for networking for both professions of phoniatricians and speech and language pathologists.
This series, published by Karger, provides straightforward, key information for clinicians working in specialist areas. 3 committees have contributed special publications related to Dysphagia, Universal Newborn Hearing Screening, and Dementia and AAC. The Unserved – Addressing the needs of those with communication disorders, authored by members of the 14 Committees of the IALP, presents ideas to assist all those who work with children and adults who have difficulty in communicating or swallowing in order to improve services for unserved and underserved communities.

An individual enrolled for part- or full-time study for preregistration, undergraduate or postgraduate studies directly related to the field of human communication disorders and sciences at a formal education institution. Students must provide official evidence of enrolment at the time of joining the Association and/or registering for a congress/composium.
